Static tension, compression and flexural testing machines

Static testing machines are the most used machines in a mechanical testing laboratory. The machines are used for the determination of many basic material properties like failure strain and strength, yield strength and Young’s modulus in tension, compression or bending. Tests can be performed at different loading rates and temperatures.

Apart from the determination of basic properties, special test equipment can be mounted onto the machines to measure specific material properties like:

  • sheet deformation of metals
  • shear properties of composites and sandwich panels
  • delamination resistance of composites and sandwich panels
  • compression testing of slender specimens
  • damage development during loading of composites
